Naogaon: Five people were killed and four others injured when a truck rammed a utility vehicle used as public transport on Naogaon-Rajshahi highway in Hapania Char Jafrabad area in Naogaon Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The accident took place in the area around 5:30pm when a Naogaon-bound truck from Naohata hit a human hauler, leaving its five passengers dead on the spot and four others injured, said Jakirul Ialm, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Two of the deceased were identified as Hasan Ali, 26, and Mohammad Ali, 36, while the identity of the other deceased could not be known immediately, the OC said.

The injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital.
