26 fall sick after taking poisoned tea

Panchagarh: Around 26 people became sick after taking tea, mistakenly prepared by insecticide, at a family programme at Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh on Thursday night.
Witness Jakirul Islam Sweden said Apon Roy, a resident of Doluapara area of Nilphamari, along with his 12 relatives went to Shawshadhar Roy’s residence at Balapara village for matrimonial affair at about 8:30pm. During the social programme, tea mistakenly made by insect repellent was served which left 26 people sick.
All of them were admitted to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex for primary treatment.
One of the victims, Toilakhya Roy, was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Debiganj upazila health complex medical officer Bikash Chandra Roy said the patients are kept under observation as nothing can be said before 24 hours.
