Chittagong: A local Juba Dal leader was killed as a covered van hit his motorcycle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila headquarters on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Salauddin Hossain, 40, vice-president of Sitakunda upazila Juba Dal and a resident of Muradpur village in the upazila, reported UNB.

The covered van crashed into Salauddin’s motorbike in front of Sitakunda Fire Station around 3:15pm that left him critically injured, said Fakhruddin, duty officer at the fire station.

The Juba Dal leader was taken to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, four people were injured in another road accident in the same area around 4:00pm.

The accident took place when a covered van hit a private car in the area. The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
