Munshiganj: Five people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus hit a tree beside Dhaka-Mawa highway in Shreenagar upazila on Saturday, reports UNB.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Shreenagar police officer-in-charge Sahidur Rahman said a Mawa-bound bus of ‘Tongipara Express’ from Dhaka hit the roadside tree at Kewatkhali in the afternoon as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving three people dead on the spot and 22 others injured.

The injured were taken to Shreenagar Health Complex where two more people died, he said.
