Dhaka: Miscreants stabbed and burned a woman, Krishna Kaberi Mondal, to death at Iqbal road of Mohammadpur area, Dhaka on Monday night.
The attackers also stabbed and set fire to Krishna’s husband, Shitangshu, also a Bangladesh Road and Transport Authority (BRTA) official, and their two daughters.
Police said the miscreants stabbed the family members indiscriminately after entering into the house and set fire to them at about 9:00pm. Local people recovered the victims and sent them to hospital.
Krishna died undergoing treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn Unit at about 2:00am on Tuesday.
Burn Unit doctor said 60% of Krishna’s body was burnt.
Body of the deceased, who was in her thirties, was kept at DMCH morgue.
Shitangshu and his daughters, Sriti Biswas, and Aritri Biswas, were admitted to Dhaka Metropolitan Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the body has several injury marks in its head and body.
Primarily it is thought that the murder was intentional and the killers targeted to kill all of the family members, said police officials.
However, Krishna’s brother Mintu Biswas claimed familiars to the victims might be responsible for the murder.
