Chittagong: Two children drowned in ponds in separate incidents in Boalkhali upazila on Thursday, reports UNB.

Locals said Samia, 3, daughter of Shawkat Alam of Popadia village in the upazila, slipped into a village pond and downed while playing its bank in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Shihab, 4, son of Mohammad Absar drowned in a pond near his house at Dakkhin Shakpura village in the upazila while taking bath at noon.

Later, both the children were taken to Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead, said Biplab Das, a duty officer of the hospital.
