6-yr-old’s body recovered from Dhaka lake

Bringing an end to a nervy wait, divers retrieved the body of six-year-old girl Sanjida from a water body near Mohakhali bus terminal in the capital on Thursday morning, around 19 hours after she fell into it.
Palash Chandra Modok, inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), said the divers recovered the body of Sanjida at about 9:45am about 50 feet away from the point where she fell down, reports UNB.
The body was found stuck in garbage piles, he added.
Earlier, five divers from FSCD resumed rescue operation at about 8:45am.
Sanjida, 6, daughter of rickshaw-van puller Shash Alam, resident of Mohakhali Dakkhin Para, fell into the water body while playing on its bank at 2:20pm on Wednesday.
On information, divers of FSCD rushed to the spot and swung into action to rescue the girl at about 4:00pm.
Failing to confirm the minor girl’s presence, the FSCD suspended its drive at about 1:35am.
