Manikganj: Three people were killed and 15 others injured in two road accidents in Shibalaya and Sadar upazilas of Manikganj on

Saturday morning.

In Shibalaya, two motorcyclists were killed as a bus knocked down their vehicle at Tepra on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in the upazila in the morning.

The deceased were Alamgir Hossain, son of Hossain Ali of Uthali village, and Rajibul Hasan, son of Alauddin of Mohadebpur village of the upazila.

Shibalaya Police Station Officer-in-charge Manirul Islam said the accident took place in the area at about 8:00am when the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Purbasha Paribahan’ hit the motorcycle, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

In Manikganj upazila, a bus plunged into a pond at Muljan on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in the morning, killing one person and injuring at least 15 others.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Manikganj Police Station Officer-in-charge Aminur Rahman said the bus carrying passengers fell into the roadside pond at about 6:30am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving one passenger dead on the spot and 15 others injured.

The injured were admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital from where one of them was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
