Two people were killed and 15 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Banshbari on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are identified as Julfikar Ali,65, a resident of Bandarban, and Rezaul Fakir,50, hailing from Barisal district, reports UNB.

Sitakunda Fire Service Station officer Fakhrul Islam said the Chittagong-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan from Dhaka skidded off the road and fell into the ditch in the area at about 8:00am after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the duo dead on the spot and its 15 other passengers injured.

The injured were admitted to Sitakunda upazila health complex and five of them were later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
