No cattle market on roads ahead of Eid-ul-Azha: Quader

Chandpur: Reiterating that no cattle market will be allowed on roads ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday asked the officials concerned to strictly monitor it.
‘Our aim is to keep the main roads fit and free for vehicular movement during the rainy season and ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. No cattle market will be allowed on the roads,’ he said while visiting the under-construction Matlab Bridge over the Dhonagoda River in the district, reports UNB.
The minister also said no unfit vehicles will be allowed to carry sacrificial animals during the upcoming Eid. ‘Such vehicles will be stopped at sources,’ he said.
Quader expressed his dissatisfaction over negligence being showed by officials concerned to monitor road repair works, saying he wants to see such engineers who continue to work on roads, even amid heavy rains under an umbrella.
It is expected that the construction work of the 304-metre Matlab Bridge will be completed by June next.
District’s superintendent of police Shamsunnahar, and Matlab Uttar and Dakkhin upazila nirbahi officers Md Mofizul Islam and Shahidul Islam respectively were present.
