Mymensingh: Kotwali police held a woman on Monday afternoon in the charges of setting fire to her daughter-in-law in Mymensingh.

Police said the victim, Jamina Begum, believed to be 19, was burnt while sleeping with her husband on 21 March.

Jamina’s in-laws admitted her to Mymensigh Medical College Hospital.

Mohammad Ali, Jamina’s father, filed a case with Kotawali model police in this connection.

He said Jamina got married with Nurul Amin, resident of Charharipur village at Charishwadiya in Sadar upazila, with Tk 40, 000 as dowry in December 2013.

Mohammad Ali claimed Jamina’s mother-in-law Komola Begum, in her thirties, demanded further dowry.

Jamina said her mother-in-law threaten to kill her.

Nurul Amin said the case filed against his family is false.
