Dinajpur: Hornets killed three children in the village of Araji Lashkar at the Birganj upazila in Dinajpur on Sunday morning with their powerful venomous sting.

The deceased are Hafiza, around 5 years old, her sisters, 3-year-old Farzana, and one-year-old Mim. Three of them are daughters of Mohiruddin and Tajjina Begum, residents of the village of Lashkar. 

The Birganj police Inspector Fakrul Islam said the children were playing at the courtyard near their residence of Saturday afternoon, when a nest of hornets fell from a tree. The three sisters were severely injured after being stung by hornets from the nest.

Hafiza and Farzana were died undergoing treatment at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital in the early hours of Sunday, while Mim died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning, said the police.
