BCL leaders penalised for helping cheat in exams

Two Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders were fined and jailed on Thursday by a mobile court after they had been caught helping HSC examinees cheat in the exams.
They were held when they were passing notes to the examinees at Lakshmipur Government College and Government Womens’ College at the town.
Among the two offenders, BCL Lakshmipur Government College unit president Amzad Hossain Azim was sentenced to seven-day imprisonment, while the unit activist Jihad Hossian Shohag was fined Tk 5000.
According to police and college officials, Azim made an unauthorised entry into Lakshmipur Womens’ College where HSC examines were taking English Part 1 exam and started distributing answers scripts to them.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Azizur Rahman caught Azim red-handed while doing this.
The other BCL activist Shohag was held by police at Lakshmipur Government College for the same type of offense.
Later on, a mobile court session at the Womens’ College sentenced them for their offenses.
