New category launched in the 10th DIMFF festival
A new category has been launched at the 10th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Saturday (March 2), The new department was launched at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
Sunday (March 3), it was confirmed through a press release that, the newly added category is 'Forced to Flee'. 'Forced to Flee' it has brought a variety to the festival, informed that press release.
As part of this initiative, DIMFF also jointly organized a five-week mobile filmmaking workshop at the UNHCR ULAB in Bangladesh. The workshop provided a platform to the students, where they focused the stories of people who were forced to flee their homes through mobile.
As a result of this effort three UNHCR themed films were selected for screening. Films screened include Noreen Islam Rio's 'The Unbreakable Wall', Rafsan Johnny Rahat's 'Ancient Letters' and Zubair Ahmed's 'Slang: Rohingya Narrative'. All are Bangladeshi movies. The films depict the struggles, crises and aspirations of displaced people.
Two UNHCR guests were present at the exhibition. They are UNHCR External Relations Officer Shahirah Majumder and Associate External Relations Officer Kevin Lindblom.
