Rajshahi: At least ten students of a madrasah fell sick reportedly after drinking water from a tank of the madrasah in Kakonhat of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Monday night.

Eight of the sick students are Biplob, Naim Islam, Miftahul Zannat, Akhter Rahman, Shahadat, Sifat, Sabbir, and Sahabuddin.

Most of them are around 7 to 12 years old, reports UNB.

Godagari Model Police Officer-in-charge SM Abu Forhad said the students of Kundoliya Hafezia Madrasah drank water of the tank while performing ablutions for maghrib prayer.

Later several students started to vomit and lost their consciousness.

All the sick students were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

On information, the OC, acting upazila nirbahi officer Mohammad Monir Hossain and Rishikul union council Chairman Shahidul Islam Tulu visited the madrasah.

Local people suspect that miscreants mixed poison with the water over enmity.

Police also found a bottle and a packet as evidence.

‘We are investigating the incident and legal steps will be taken,’ added the OC.
