Sylhet: Two students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) drowned in a water body in Bisnakandi area of Goainghat upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Moshiur Rahman Siam, 25, and Sayeef Latif, 24. Both were 1^st year students of BUET mechanical engineering department, reported UNB.

Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Goainghat Police Station, said a group of Buet students came to visit Bisnakandi tourist spot.

Siam and Sayeef suddenly slipped in the water around 4:00pm while sitting on a stone.

On information, a team of police, led by sub-inspector Moinul Islam, rushed in and recovered their bodies.

However, it was not clear how they drowned in the water body which is not so deep, the OC said, adding that they were looking into it incident.
