Dhaka: Three people, including a woman and her son, were killed in separate road accidents in the capital’s Jatrabari and Demra on Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased were Shakila Israt Jhumu, reportedly in her late twenties, her son Hamim of about 5, and one Farida Begum who is said to be around 30.

Hospital sources said Shakila along with her son Hamim and daughter Ritu was going to visit one of her relatives from their Shanir Akhra residence by a rickshaw in the morning.

When they reached near Maa O Shishu Hospital of Matuail of Jatrabari at about 9:30am, a pickup hit the rickshaw, injuring the trio.

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Shakila and Hamim were pronounced dead at about 11:30am. Ritu was given first aid at the hospital.

In another incident, an oil tanker crashed into a motorbike that was carrying Farida and her husband Abul Hossain at Amulia road of Demra at about 9:00am.

It was understood that they were going to Demra from their Sabujbagh residence.

Critically injured, the couple was rushed to the DMCH where on-duty doctor declared Farida dead at about 9:55am.
