Moulvibazar: Police arrested a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from Shamshernagar Road area of the town on Saturday night in connection with a case for assaulting police.

The arrestee was Kamal Hossain, a resident of Baronti village of sadar upazila and a joint convener of Moulvibazar district unit Chhatra Dal.

Police conducted a drive in the area at about 11:00pm and arrested Kamal in connection with the police assault case.

Moulvibazar model police officer-in-charge Abdus Salek confirmed the incident.

He was also accused in a vehicle torching case, added the OC.
