Satkhira: Two children drowned in a pond in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira  on Saturday morning.

The deceased are Ashikur Rahman, 7, son of Abdus Sabur Mollah and his cousin Monira Khatun, 4, daughter of Momin Mollah.

Enamul Hauqe, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said the two children slipped into the pond when they went there for playing at about 10:00am.

Later, local people recovered their bodies from the pond.
