3 killed as train hits vehicle in Rangpur
Rangpur: Three cattle traders were killed as a Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express Intercity Train hit a cow-laden vehicle, locally known as ‘Votvoti’, at Manaspar Kuthirpara point under Kawnia upazila in Rangpur tonight, police said.
Kawnia police officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Kader Zilani told the national news agency BSS over mobile from the spot, the tragic accident occurred at about 10:00pm, killing three persons aboard of the 'Votvoti' and six cows on the spot.
Identities of the deceased persons could not be known immediately.
‘Another unidentified passenger of the 'Votvoti' was critically injured and he was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital,’ the OC added.
Members of Government Railway Police (GRP) from Kawnia GRP Thana immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the bodies.
The process of filing a case in this connection with Kawnia GRP police station was progressing till filing of this report at 10:43pm, the police added.
