Advance sale of train tickets for Eid begins 29 August

Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets on 29 August on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque came up with the announcement at a press briefing at his ministry on Sunday, reports UNB.

Tickets for 7 September journey will be available on 29 August while that for 8 September on 30 August, for 9 September on 31 August, for

10 September on 1 September and for 11 September on 2 September.

Besides, the return tickets for the journey of 14 September will be available on 5 September and that for 15 September on 6 September, for 16 September on 7 September, for 17 September on 8 September and for 18 September on 9 September.

The ticket sale will begin at 8:00am and each passenger will be able to buy maximum four tickets.

While briefing, the Railways Minister said five pairs of special trains will run on several routes from 9 September to 11 September and 14 September to 20 September.

These trains are Dewanganj special (Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka), Chandpur special-1 and Chandpur special-2 (Chittagong-Chandpur-Chittagong), Parbatipur Special (Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur), Khulna special (Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna).

Besides, two trains—Kishoreganj special-1 (Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhairab) and Kishoreganj special-2 (Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh) --will run on the Eid day for Sholakia Eid amaat, said the minister.

Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed for preventing sale of ticket on black market.

Meanwhile, plying of Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka Moitree train on 11 and 12 September will remain suspended due to Eid.
