Five people were  killed as a microbus plunged into a roadside ditch in Laksham upazila of Comilla on early Saturday.

The accident took place at about 3:00am at Uttar Chilonia Bridge area on the Comilla-Noakhali Highway.

Among the deceased, four are women, and one man. The identities of the deceased could not be known.

The highway police said a microbus carrying unidentified number of people including men and women was heading to Dhaka from Noakhali. As the bus reached Uttar Chilonia Bridge area, the vehicle fell into a ditch killing five people on the spot.

Laksham Police Station Officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mahfuj said the microbus and the dead bodies were kept at the Lalmai police camp.
