Chandpur: Six people were burnt as an oil-laden tanker truck explored on Bangabandhu road in Chandpur in the early hours of Thursday.

A warehouse near the road also caught fire during the explosion. Five units of fire fighters brought the fire under control.

The injured are Mizanur Rahman, around 50 years old, an oil trader, Badsha, Masud, Raihan, Nur Mohammad, and fire fighter Mazumder Khokon. All of them were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn unit.

Fire service Senior Officer Faruq Ahmed said an oil-laden tanker truck of Padma Oil explored while the oil was deposing from the tanker at about 12:30am on Thursday.

Later, the fire engulfed the truck and an oil warehouse.

The Chandpur Addition district administrator (Revenue) Mohammad Abdul Hai said five firefighting units brought the fire under control after two and half years at about 3:00am.

Abdul Hai said the fire caused huge damage as oil warehouse did not have any fire extinguisher system.

Electricity and gas supplies of the city were also cut off during the fire extinguishing operation.
