Rangpur: Two minor children met with tragic end of their lives after drowning in the river Sonabaran at Purbo Durgapur Singardari village under Parbotipur upazila in Dinajpur on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.

According to police and local sources, the victims were identified as Rakib Babu, 3, son of Tofazzal Hossain; and Rifat Islam, 4, son of Mezba Uddin of the same village.

The two children drowned while playing by the side of the river beyond knowledge of their parents and neighbours.

Later, the villagers recovered floating bodies of the two ill-fated minor boys from the river at about 5:00pm.

Parbotipur police officer-in-charge Mahmudul Hassan and Chairman of local Polashbari union council Mofakhkharul Islam Faruk confirmed the deaths of the two children.
