Mymensingh: National U-16 female football team goalkeeper Taslima’s father was allegedly physically assaulted by a teacher of her school in Kalsindur village in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday night.

The Dhobaura Police Officer-in-charge Shawkat Alam said Jabed Ali Talukdar, a physical training instructor of Kalsindur School and College, asked the footballer girls of the school to take preparation for a football match against a school of Comilla district on 18 September  as part as an inter-school football tournament.

However, the school’s managing committee suspended Jabed Ali after an emergency meeting following the incident.
Jabed had an altercation with the girls, who had just returned to their village after emerging as the champions of AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers in Dhaka, and their guardians as the girls refused to play for that match mentioning that the players of under-16 national football teams will be given a reception in Dhaka on 17 September.

As Sabuj Miah, father of Taslima, informed the matter to another teacher Mafiz Uddin on Wednesday night, Jabed was infuriated and assaulted Sabuj Miah physically.

On information, a police team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, the OC said.

Sabuj Miah filed a case against the teacher with the police station in this connection on Thursday afternoon.

Police is trying to arrest the accused, he said.
