Panchagarh: Duranta Bicycle recently patronised a unique bike procession to raise awareness against superstition and to increase female participation in educational institutions.

Around 500 female students of 10 secondary schools of the sub-Himalayan district took part at the procession organised by Panchagarh district administration, says a Pran-RFL Group press release.

The 4km procession started at the Panchagarh Sirajul Islam Stadium and concluded at the same point after parading the key streets of the district.

The theme of the Duranta Bicycle Procession was ‘Tumi Egiye Gele Egiye Jabe Bangladesh’.

Chowdhury Fazla Akbar, head of marketing at Duranta Bicycle said the objective of the procession was to encourage female students to ride bicycle to stay healthy and make them self-dependent. He also said Duranta Bicycle will patronise such processions in 64 districts by the end of the year.

Deputy commissioner Amal Krishna Mandal,  Panchagarh additional district commissioner (General) Mahmudul Alam, Sadar  Police officer-in-charge Mominul Islam, district education officer Shankar Kumar Gosh, Panchagarh District Sports Association general secretary Shaikhul Islam, and Duranta Bicycle assistant brand manager AM Raquibul Ahsan were present.

Later, Raquibul Ahsan handed over 20 bicycles among the 20 female students who won lottery arranged on the occasion.
