28 primary teachers deprived of salary, Eid bonus in Netrakona

Netrakona: Twenty-eight teachers of eight government primary (community) schools in Kendua upazila in Netrakona did not get their monthly salaries for July and August nor their Eid bonus, allegedly due to the negligence of the upazila primary education officer.
The eight primary schools are Chandagati, Maizkandi, Mohuria, Aujia, Bhadera, Shibpur Baushari, Chapuri, Kutubpur, and Shakhra government primary schools of the upazila, UNB reported.
The teachers of the eight community primary schools had been getting Tk. 4007 per month as salary after the government nationalized the schools but their salaries for the month of July and August remain unpaid.
Talking to UNB, head teacher of Chandagati Primary School Ruhul Amin said on Sunday that ‘we hoped that we would get the salaries for the months of July and August before Eid-ul-Azha but it is our bad luck that we have not get Eid bonus and salary yet.’
The teachers blamed the negligence of the upazila primary education officers for not getting their salary and Eid bonus before Eid.
Contacted, upazila primary education officer Emdadul Haq denied the allegations of negligence against him, adding that the teachers will be paid in arrears after Eid but he could not clarify why the teachers will not get their due salaries and bonus before Eid.
