2 labourers killed in Sunamganj boat capsize
Two labourers were killed as a limestone-laden trawler capsized in the Bholai River at Dakkhinkul village of Tahir upazila in Sunamganj on early Monday.
The deceased are identified as Tohadur Rahman, 20, and Sanjib Das of the village, reports UNB.
Tahirpur Police Station Officer-in-charge (investigation) Md Hanif said four workers came to the village with the boat loaded with limestone from Bagli customs station on Sunday night.
They anchored their trawler at a port of the river for staying overnight.
However, the boat sank in the early hours due to rain and overloading.
Although two other workers managed to swim ashore, Tohadur and Sanjib went missing.
On information, police rushed in and fished out the bodies from the river at about 10:00am, added the OC.
