Tangail:  At least four people were killed and around 20 others were injured as a bus upturned on Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway in Tangail in the early hours of Friday.

Identity of the deceased and injured could not be known immediately.

The Alenga Highway Police Sergeant Jahangir Alam said a Gazipur-bound bus from Lalmonirhat plunged on the road as it neared the highway at Pungli in Kalihati area at about 4:00am and left four of the passengers dead on the spot.

Tangail Fire Service members and police went to the spot and recovered the bodies, said the police sergeant.

The injured were taken to Tangail Medical College Hospital, added Jahangir Alam.
