Mother, son among 4 killed in Tangail road crash

Five people, including a woman and her son, were killed and 13 more people injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Kurni on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Saturday morning.
Three of the deceased are Rahima Begum, 32, a resident of Rajarhat upazila of Kurigram district, her son Bayzid, 7, and Salma Begum, 24, wife of Mominur Rahman, of Mohadebpur village in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district, reports UNB.
Gorai Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Khalilur Rahman Patwary said a passenger carrying bus was going to Dhaka from Kurigram in the morning.
When the bus reached Kurni, it collided head-on with a Tangail-bound truck at about 7:00am, leaving the woman and the child dead on the spot and 15 other people injured.
The injured were taken to hospital where Salma and an unidentified young man succumbed to their injuries, the OC added.
