Barguna transport workers go on strike
Barguna: Transport workers went on an indefinite strike in all routes of Barguna from Monday protesting the death of one of their fellow in an attack by miscreants on Sunday night.
Road communications of Barguna with other parts of the country remained suspended due to the strike, causing miseries to the passengers, reports UNB.
Sahabuddin Sabu, president of Barguna Road Transport Workers’ Union, called the strike at a meeting at about 11:00pm on Sunday.
Haidar Ali, in his forties, executive member of the union, was hacked to death by miscreants at Amlakitala village in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The Sadar Police Officer-in-charge Riaz Hossain said a gang of miscreants attacked Haidar Ali when he was returning home at about 8:30pm.
The attackers stabbed Haidar indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
He was taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
