Nilphamari: A man was killed and three others injured in separate lightning strikes at Sheotgari Danggapara village under Domar upazila in Nilphamari on early Friday.

The deceased is Arif Hossain, 35, son of Jasim Uddin of the area.

Locals said Arif died instantly and his wife Sheuli Begum, 30, was injured as a thunderbolt struck their house while the couple was asleep, reports UNB.

Family members rescued Sheuli Begum and rushed her to Nilphamari Adhunik Sadar Hospital in critical condition.

Another thunderbolt struck Yunus Ali’s house in the same village where Rita Begum, 30, daughter of Yunus Ali, and Shaher Banu, 35, wife of Abu Taleb, got injured.

A cow also died in the incident.

Chairman of the Harinchara union council Azizul Islam confirmed the incident.
