Bandarban: A man was killed in an attack by a herd of wild elephants at Kadukhola village in Sadar upazila of Bandarban early on Friday.

The deceased is Sirajul Islam, a resident of the area.

Union council member Abbas Uddin said a herd of around 15 elephants came down from the hill and started damaging standing crops in the area of the village.

When local people tried to drive out the elephants, they attacked them at about 5.00am.

At one stage, an elephant attacked Sirajul and trampled him to death.
