Dhaka: The condition of college girl Khadiza Akter Nargis, who was injured critically in a knife attack allegedly by a BCL leader in Sylhet, remained unchanged as she was still on life support at Square Hospital in the city on Wednesday, said physicians.
‘We can’t say anything until 72 hours expire …Khadiza is on a 72-hour medical observation. Her condition remains unchanged but we’re hopeful of improvement,’ Mirza Nazimuddin, a consultant at Critical Care Medicine of Square Hospital, told reporters at the hospital on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Khadiza, 23, a student of Sylhet Govt Women’s College, was stabbed allegedly by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit BCL leader Badrul Alam on her way home from college following the refusal of his proposal for having an affair with him.
Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rescued Khadiza and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.
Khadiza was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital from where she was moved to Dhaka at about 12:10am on Tuesday as her condition deteriorated.
Badrul was also admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in police custody.
The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) suspended Badrul Alam for attacking Khadiza.
