Narsingdi boat capsize: 4 bodies recovered from Meghna

Narsingdi: The bodies of four people, who went missing after a boat capsize in the River Meghna at Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Tuesday, were recovered from the river near Chhonpara area on Thursday morning.
The deceased are Farid Mia, of Boroitala village, three cattle traders -Anwar Faraji, of Baherchar village, Khalil Mia, and Abul Haq, of Boroilata village in Raipura upazila, all of them are in their late thirties.
Divers of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) resumed the rescue in the morning and recovered the bodies near the bank of the Meghna River in the area at about 9:00am, said Raipura Police Officer-in-charge Azharul Islam.
Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, deputy commissioner of Narsingdi, visited the spot and announced to provide Tk 15,000 and 20kg rice to each of victim’s families.
Earlier, on Tuesday, three cattle traders and the boatman went missing when a boat carrying them along with 20 cattle capsized in the middle of the river at about 7:30 pm as they were caught in a storm while going to Charbuddi village of Raipura upazila from Baish Muja Bazar of Nabinagar upazila in Narsingdi.
Thirteen cattle drowned in the river following the capsize.
