Jessore: Two people were killed and another one injured in a head-on collision between a pick-up van and a utility vehicle at Beltala on the Jessore-Satkhira Highway in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Mamun and Alamgir, both residents of Bagachra Bakurey village in the upazila.

Quoting local people, police said the pick-up van of Afil Group collided head-on with a Leguna, a utility vehicle, in the area at about 6:30pm, leaving the Leguna’s driver Alamgir dead on the spot and two passengers—Mamun and Anis—injured.

The injured were admitted to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex from where Mamun was referred to Jessore Medical College Hospital at about 9:30pm as his condition deteriorated.

Later, Mamun succumbed to his injures at about 10:30pm.
