Rajshahi: A policeman was killed as a truck hit his bike in Court Station Charkhutar Mor area on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi highway in Rajshahi on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as assistant sub-inspector of traffic police Abdul Hamid, 52, hailing from Chapainawabganj.

Ifte Khayer Alam, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), said a speeding truck hit Hamid’s bike in the area while he was returning home at about 11:00pm, leaving him critically injured.

Hamid was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where doctor declared him dead.

A case was filed in this connection.
