Former IGP Ismail Hossain dies at 75
Dhaka: Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ismail Hossain breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in the capital this morning, a press release said. He was 75.
Ismail left behind two daughters, host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His Namaz-e-Janaza was held in Shaheed Siru Miah Auditorium at Razarbagh Police Lines this noon. IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque, additional IGP Dr Md Jabed Patwari, additional IGP Sheikh Himayet Hossain, additional IGP Md Mokhlesur Rahman, other top police officials, friends and family members of the deceased joined the prayers, among others.
A well decorated contingent of police offered guard of honour to him after the janaza. Later, floral wreaths were placed on his coffin from the IGP and leaders of Police Service Association.
Ismail joined Pakistan Police Service as an assistant superintendant of police in 1966. He was served as IGP during 1997-98.
