4 killed as three vehicles collided in Khulna

Khulna: Four people including a woman and two sons were killed as a truck, a utility vehicle, and a battery-run van collided in the Kathaltala area of Dumuria upazila in Khulna on Friday morning.

The deceased are Shathi Begum, in her late twenties, her sons, Tutul, around 7 years, Tamim, 8 years, and Tahura Begum.

Five others were injured during the incident. One of the injured is Abdul Molla, husband of Tahura Begum. Identities of the other injured could not be known immediately.

The Dumuria Police Officer-in-charge (OC) Shubhash Biswash said a truck collided head-on with a battery-run van on the Khulna-Satkhira road at about 11:00am. Later a Mahendra, utility vehicle used for public transport rammed on two vehicles. The collision left Sathi and her son, Tutul, died on the spot. Later, Tamim and Tahura Begum died on their way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and Dumuria Upazila Health Complex.

The OC said the truck driver flee from the spot but left the truck.
