2 killed in Netrakona road accident

Netrakona: Two men were killed and five others injured as a brick-laden lorry turned turtle at the Tremohoni-Jamdhala Road at Jamdhola Bazaar in Purbodhola upazila of Netrakona on Tuesday evening.

The deceased are Pakhi Akter, in her twenties, resident of the village of Jamdhala, and the lorry driver’s assistant Rubel Miah, believed to be 23, from the village of Manoshura in the upazila.

The Purbodhola Police Officer-in-charge Ovi Ranjan Deb said the lorry was going to Jamdhola Bazaar in the evening.

The vehicle overturned near the bazaar on Tremohoni-Jamdhala road as the driver lost his control over the wheels at about 7:00pm.

The bricks carried by the lorry hit the pedestrians during the incident, the helper and one pedestrian dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
