Sirajganj: A couple was killed and four members of their family were injured as a private car hit a roadside tree on Dhaka-Pabna highway in Chariasika area under Salonga thana in Sirajganj, reports UNB.

The deceased are Sakhawat Hossain, 35 and her wife Halima Khatun, 25, hailing from Pathando village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail.

Sergeant Abdul Goni of Hatikumrul highway police camp, said the private car carrying six members of the family hit the roadside tree at about 11:30am when one of its front side wheels got punctured, leaving the six people injured.

The injured were taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital where Shakhawat and Halima succumbed to their injuries.

The other injured are Shakhawat’s father Abu Bakar, mother Saleha Akhter, sister Tuli, 25 and nephew Dwip.

A case was filed in this connection.
