Two people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a utility vehicle, locally known as Alamsadhu, at Patibila on Kaliganj-Kotchandpur road in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah on Saturday morning.

The deceased are Amjad Biswas, 60, a resident of Chandpara village in Kotchandpur upazila, and Amir Hossain, 45, a resident of Ghighati village in Kaliganj upazila, reports UNB.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-charge Aminul Islam said the utility vehicle was going to Kaliganj from Kotchandpur with five passengers on board in the morning.

When the vehicle reached Patibila, it collided head-on with a pickup van, leaving one of its five passengers dead on the spot and four others and its driver injured.

The injured were taken to Kaliganj upazila health complex where doctors declared Amir, driver of the vehicle, dead.

The other injured were shifted to Jessore Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
