Bogra: At least seven people including five police members were killed as two trucks collided head-on in the Mohipur area of Sherpur upazila in Bogra in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased police members are Shahjahan, Pranab, Alamgir, Shamsul, and Shohel, reports UNB.

Local people and police said a Dhaka-bound truck carrying the police members from Kurigram collided head-on with another Rangpur-bound cement-laden truck as they neared Mohipur of Sherpur at about 5:00am and left four police members dead on the spot. Three others including another police member were also injured during the accident.

Later, police and fire fighters went to the spot and sent the injured to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra. However, the injured died in the hospitals.

The Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College police post in-charge TSI Shah Alam said police seized the trucks. All of the deceased were passengers of the Kurigram-bound truck. Apart from the police members, the truck driver, and, his assistant were died in the accident, said Shah Alam.

Driver and his assistant of the Kurigram-bound truck fled from the spot immediately after the accident, said the police post in-charge.
