Primary teachers for elimination of discrimination
Dhaka: Primary teachers on Friday demanded the government to eliminate the discrimination of salaries and grades between headmasters and assistant teachers.
They came up with the demand at a rally organised by Primary School Assistant Teachers’ Association at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.
Shamsuddin Ahmed, secretary general of the association, urged to place the post of assistant teacher just one grade below the post of headmaster.
The organisation also raised 11 points from the rally including - stopping direct recruitment of teachers in primary schools; appointing headmasters considering skill and efficiency; determining the minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers graduation; rationing for the teachers; life time medical insurance; and medical card for the family of teachers.
Sabera Begum chaired the rally while the leaders of the organisation Rafiqul Islam Masud, Gofran Mostafa Khan also spoke at the programme.
