Sirajganj: A van-puller was killed when a train hit his van at Jhaoil level-crossing in Kamarkhand upazila in Sirajganj on Thursday.

Syed Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Railway Police, said a Dinajpur-bound ‘Ekata Express’ train from Dhaka knocked down the battery-run van at the level-crossing at about 3:00pm, killing its puller Jinnah Mandal, in his sixties, of Jarila village in sadar upazila on the spot.

The incident took place as there was no gateman at the level-crossing, the OC said.
