Sylhet: Ten printing presses were burned down in a fire that broke out at Muktijoddha lane in Zindabazar area of Sylhet on Tuesday.

Rafiqul Islam, deputy director of Sylhet Fire Service, said the fire originated at a press at about 8:00am from an electrical short circuit. It soon engulfed the adjoining nine shops.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after one and half an hours of efforts.

The affected shop owners claimed that the losses caused by the fire would exceed Tk 20lakh.
