Lakshmipur: A man was killed and six others were injured as a bus collided with another in Charchamita area of Sadar upazila in Lakshmipur early on Friday.

The Chandraganj police in-charge Abdul Haque said a Chittagong-bound Shatabdi Paribahan bus from Khulna collided head-on with a Lakshmipur-bound Econo Paribahan bus in the early hours of Friday due to lack of lights and left several passengers including two drivers of the buses injured.

Later the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital. Doctors declared the driver of Shatabdi Paribahan bus died. However, identity of the driver could not be known.

The injured are Faruque Hossain, Mamunur Rashid, driver of Econo Paribahan bus, Mamunur Rashid, Shumon Hossain, Shahjahan, Sohel Hossain, and Farida Begum.

The buses were seized by the Chandraganj Police.
