Bagerhat: Two activists of local Juba League were killed and another was injured as their motorcycle hit a roadside tree near Jalchira Bridge in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat on Thursday night.

The deceased are Kamruzzaman Saikat, and Shovon Hossain Babu, a resident of Mongla municipality area. Both were in their twenties.

Mongla Police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Lutfar Rahman said the motorcycle hit the tree after its rider lost control at about 11:00am while they were returning after attending a political programme, marking the Victory Day, leaving three critically injured.

The injured were taken to upazila health complex where doctors declared Shaikat and Shovon dead.

Another injured Rony was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
