Gazipur: Two workers were crushed under the wheels of a speeding train at Pubail in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Nur Mohammad, son of Budu Miah, and Hasmat Ali, son of Ismail Hossain, both residents of Kutuber Char village in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur district.

Bhairab Railway Station Officer-in-charge Mohammad Abdul Majid said Nur and Hasmat were walking on Dhaka-Chittagong rail track at Pubail College Gate at about 12:00pm when a train arrived from their opposite direction.

Seeing this, the two workers moved to the adjacent track without noticing that another train was coming through that track and subsequently were run over by the train.

Later, the two labourers were taken to the hospital where doctors declared them dead.
