Khagrachhari: The dawn to dusk blockade, enforced by Super Joti Chakma Mukti Songram Committee, is going on peacefully throughout Khagrachhari on Wednesday.

The Committee enforced the strike with the demand to release Lakshmichhari upazila parishad chairman Super Joti Chakma who was arrested by the joint forces on 1 January.

Member secretary of the Committee Trilan Chakma announced the blockade on Tuesday evening.

No long-route bus was seen to leave the district since morning.

Members of the law enforcement agencies took position at important points of the district to ward off any untoward incident, said superintendent of police M Majid Ali.

On 1 January, members of the joint forces arrested Super Joti Chakma along with a foreign pistol and five rounds of bullets from his residence.

On Monday, he was produced before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate when the court sent him to jail rejecting a bail petition.
